The Lott Leadership Institute was established in 1999 to honor U.S. Senator Trent Lott, a distinguished graduate of the University. The Lott Institute has a two-fold mission. First, it prepares students to assume positions of leadership in an increasingly complex world, and second, it supports policy relevant research through the Public Policy Research Center.
Six of the ten UM students inducted into the Hall of Fame on Jan. 27 are members of the Lott Leadership Institute: Marianna McInnis Breland of Forest; Davis Lee Gates of Terry, Caleb Miles Herod of Abbeville, Meghan Marae' Litten of Petal, Philton Cortez Moss of Calhoun City, and Taylor Michael McGraw of Oxford.
The Lott Institute coordinates the placement of three SCFP Summer Internships offered through support from the Office of the Provost, Division of Outreach, The Department of Public Policy Leadership and the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College. Sophomore level students campus wide are encouraged to apply by clicking here.
